Simultaneous game question
I recently started playing PBW and decided to play simultaneous turns against the AI to see how it stacks up against turn based and I noticed a slight problem a few minuets ago. I sent a fleet of ships in to attack a planet, which they did. However they attacked the planet 17 times in one turn. My plan was for a quick attack, blow away the star bases and whatever facilities I could hit and run away. Unfortunately my ships now have zero supplies, even though they were at 2/3rds before I started fighting. My question is, is this a known problem? If it is I'm assuming it'll be patched fairly soon. In the meantime does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about avoiding it?

Re: Simultaneous game question
You could try putting an emergency resupply pod on one or more of your ships.

Re: Simultaneous game question
Your weapons systems use up supplies each time they are fired. Depending on what your ships are armed with, and what they hit the planet with, they might have just used up all of their fuel/ammo in one go.
Other than that, Emergency Resupply, Supply Storage, and Solar Collectors are your friends. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif -Hotfoot "You know you have a good fight going when both sides run out of supplies halfway through." ------------------ L* GdY $? I believe that to do a hit-and-run on a planet or other target, you need to queue up additional movement orders so that after the ships attack they will move elsewhere at their next movement opportunity. Otherwise, if they find themselves in the presence of enemies and with nothing else to do, they'll attack again. Since I almost always use troops in my planetary assaults, I don't have much experience with this. I can't hit-and-run, I have to take the time to pick my troops back up again. |
Re: Simultaneous game question
Unfortunately I don't have the tech for Emergency resupply or Solar Harnessing.
I tried giving the fleet orders to to attack two planets in the same turn then run back towards the warp point. No luck. They stayed over the first planet until they ran out of supplies and never moved to the second. Another oddity I noticed. I did succesfully blow away the planet, and the 8 billion people on it, but by the time I was done the empire who owned it was now "warm" with me and wanted a trade alliance. Go figure. |
Re: Simultaneous game question
Yep. AIs typically become happier when battles end in a draw.
