modding existing campaigns

Hi fellows,

I enjoy modifying user-made campaigns, such as changing them to an open-core cmapaign and then changing the nation. That way, you can buy similar forces of your prefered nation (and OOB) and try your luck. It works pretty well, but there are some limitations. Therefore, I'd like to ask the following:

1.) Is it possible to extract scenarios from a user-made campaign? (for various reasons, extracting the maps, customizing the campaigns, learning more for making my own campaigns, etc) (using the DL version vs. the CD version - I am using DL but if it works with the CD then I could at least find someone who could do that for me)

2.) I noticed that several 'new' nations are not avaiable for choice if you want to change the nationality of an existing campaign, even though these nations do exist during the time setting of the campaign. Examples: Croatia, Ukraine, etc. - this is one of the reasons why I would like to extract the scenarios that make up the campaign, so I can change the nation.

Any feedback on this will be appreciated!

1/ Yes you can extract scenarios from user campaigns using CampaignHack that operates with the CD version. Buying the CD version will provide you with a number of added features detailed in the Game Guide

2/Those nations appear OK for me when I try what you describe but an exact example would make checking somewhat easier

Hi Don,

thanks for the info. Now your post made me think a bit and I found out why certain nations were unavailable - the default battle pairing setting was 1973, no Croatia or Ukraine at that time... I'd never paid attention to this as it's in the game options before starting the game... alright, problem solved.
