Ireland Map

There seem to be a lot of Celtic themed nations (which is awesome) so I made a small map of Ireland. This based on Satellite image and follows county lines where appropriate.

I think there were a couple of sat based world maps. Or at least continental maps.

One issue with sat maps is the lack of clear distinctions between terrain. I prefer having forest/swamp/mountain provinces being quite clearly graphically different from regular provinces.

Actually i quite like the clean look of this map but yes, it is a tad difficult to see some terrain types. Though on a nice small one like this, shouldn't take to long to work it out.

Have you been following this game - Empires of Steel?

the above is a blog entry on map making using an over lay function. I wonder if it could be useful to Dominions map makers?

Where do you find those world maps you speak of?

Thanks, hEad. I don't suppose I'll ever have time to do a world map, but next I plan to do the whole British Isles in this style.

I downloaded this map earlier, and I do quite like it. Glad someone did a map like this. I do share sombre's concerns about terrain types though... for example there were several mountainous-looking terrains that were mountainous swamps. It's completely impossible to distinguish between a normal mountain and one with a swamp in it, which is less than perfect. Still, overall I do like it. I would just remove all the terrain types that aren't really visible on the map so it is easier to tell what things are by looking at them.

Thanks!

And thanks to all who downloaded. I am trying something different with the British Isles map. I'm starting with Satellite images but making liberal use of the cloning brush to clearly indicate which terrains are in which provinces. So far, I like the results, though obviously authenticity will suffer a bit.

This will be a larger map - Ireland in the British Isles map is the same size as in the Ireland map.

Get to work!

Again, i like this style of map. If you can work out how to overlay some recognisable terrain indicators - you'll have a winner.
