Some Questions

My questions will be somewhat unrelated to each other but..

1) In a multi game, which I'm participating as Tir na n'Og where I scripted a tuatha sorceress to cast storm in the beginning of a battle, there had been a battle after scripting and she didn't cast it. Why? She had two air gems(still has), and she is an A5N2 mage. She hasn't any afflictions on her, only a horror mark.

2) Let us say that I forgot something during scripting other mages(not talking about the storm caster) and the first or first two orders were not carried out by them. What happens then, do they wait until they are able to carry out their orders or the whole script goes poof and they do whatever they think as prudent?

3) A forum question, why can I not send private messages to people? I can only reply to those who send me in the first place, and cannot just send them by clicking on their nick in a forum post. There is a box somewhere that is supposedly allow me to write in the receivers, but trying it once, didn't work. Am I doing something terribly wrong?

4) In private message screen, is there a link to the forum page you were viewing just before clicking private messages? I so tried to find one and failed, every time have to hit back back back or reload the site from scratch. Too much hassle?

Thanks in advance people.

The AI decided there was a very strong possibility you would win the battle without wasting the gems. It often decides this if you outnumber an enemy by a fair amount. There are probably other factors as well, it is the games attempt to save you from wasting gems if for instance someone attacked one of your provinces with a lone scout. Sometimes you still wish the mage would have cast the spell though =/.

I have nothing to add to Foodstamp anwser, but this.

Staff of Storms. Forge some and never go back. It will always cast storm at the start of battle.

If the unit is given an order that it cannot perform (like casting spell for non-mage) the AI will give them default orders (usually fire or stay behind troops). If you have a mage fatigue out from his first spell and be unconsius for 10 turns, he will continue his script once he wakes up, thought.

If you left click on a name, it should bring out a menu where you can select "send private message to X". If this does not happen, perhaps you some sort of cryptic setting set on your profile?

I usually just use tabs. If you firefox, press Ctrl+t and be amazed.

Re: Some Questions

he's got a point about that returning-to-forum-from-private-messages thing; and forcing the user to make another tab (especially when they might be like me and already have 100 open) isn't an acceptable solution for the designers. .com.unity needs to fix that.

*waiting patiently for it to be fixed now*

Re: Some Questions

The AI thing made sense because my whole army was basically against 5 troops. Got the private messaging working as well. Not sure why I screwed up. Probably the person I tried to send had PM off. Thanks for the answers again.

Re: Some Questions

Just to expand a bit - the ai seems to look strongly at whether enemy mages/SC's are in the mix. Troop count matters; enemy mages matter.

Re: Some Questions

The AI evaluates each step in the script of a unit as it processes it. So on round 1 it will examine order 1 and if it can execute it (enough mage paths, enough gems, target within range, etc), then it will. If it cannot, it will ignore that particular spell (but not the script entirely) and cast whatever it thinks is best for that round. This process continues until round 5 or the script ends, whichever comes first. After that the mage will just do whatever the ai thinks is best.

Re: Some Questions

However if interrupted, by falling unconscious or by not casting due to being in melee, the script will not skip the spell, but try again next round.
