Component Ability Question
Hello All
Happy days are here again... I have spent the Last two hours playing with Version 1.49 and I must say that everything is sweet.... no problems yet encountered with games saved under Version 1.41 and the Counter-Intelligence reports listed in the log are music to my ears. Now, on to the questions... Would anyone know what exactly the difference is between the ability "Contains a ship's bridge" and "Contains an auxiliary control"? My interpretation is that both the Bidge and the Auxiliary Control function in the same way while in combat but that you still incur the movement penalty for not having a bridge or a MC on board if you are left with nothing but an Auxiliary Control when combat is resolved (meaning that in combat there is essentially no difference between the two). Is this correct? Finally, if one does employ the combination MC/Bridge does it make any difference if you include Life Support and Crew Quarters in the design (in combat and out)? Re: Component Ability Question
When using an MC/Bridge combo, I'd suggest adding one LS and CQ.
If you don't expect to lose the MC, you don't need a bridge. If you lose the MC, the most important backup is the LS, then Bridge/CQ. One of each is sufficient to maintain full functionality, even on a baseship. Without an MC, the following penalties are applied (AFAIK = v1.35): - No LS? 1/4 the speed - No CQ? 1/2 the speed - No bridge? 1/2 the speed. ------------ PS: that AuxCon Combat Vs. Strategic distinction is news to me. The logic behind it is not immediately apparent. [This message has been edited by suicide_junkie (edited 25 October 2001).] |
