Map making problems "Drawing maps contour bitmap" hanging
 
I thought I had this figured out but it only works when I make really small maps. The DEM is apparently importing OK I can see the greyscale heightmap at the selection window with no distortion. But if I set the window to 1000 x 1000 the process flys along until it trys to draw the maps contour bitmap and the progressbar keeps cycling, or repeating. It just hangs there with the progressbar looping slowly. I dont think this is a map issue since Im trying to make a map smaller than the 5000x5000 limit. I think this is a bug in the contour "making" part of the power toolkit. Will you guys please look into this or point out what Im doing wrong?

OK I believe I have this figured out. It actually wasnt a bug per se but an error handling issue(garbage in/out). What I figured out was happening was that if there were white speckles in the selection area(yellow box) of the greyscale heightmap that was causing the problems drawing the contour bitmaps.
So you can either not select those areas for your map, OR when your converting the map in VTbuilder click on ELEVATION - FILL IN UNKNOWN AREAS - EXTRAPOLATION VIA PARTIAL DERIVATIVES.
Then export the map to ASCII as usual.
