Blitz and IRC invitation to Noobs
 

Hi folks,

Just a plug. Some of us new players are hanging out in the IRC channel (see the FAQ) and blitzing (short one session games) regularly. The channel is mostly vets, but I would like to invite other new players to come join us.

That is true. Dominions mastery can only be achieved in seclusion, for it requires a perfect understanding of the world that can't be reached when polluted by material things such as human interaction.

Anyway, the IRC is a great option if you don't believe you are fit to become one of the vaunted Dominion ascetics, and Blitzing is allegedly rather fun, to boot.

Blitz to PBEM is more like competitive chess with a timer to freeform amateur chess where the amateurs try to emulate the masters of pro-chess.

:shock:, did I go too far? I have never Blitzed on the IRC and I'm conscious that most innovation occurs in the PBEM arena.

Not really Blitzing is to normal MP games what speed chess is to normal chess. you do not have as much time to think about your decisions but ultimately your options are exactly the same. Oh sure game settings are slightly different informal rules tend to exist such no use of Mercs and easy research which rarely apply in standard MP games but ultimately it is still the same game.

The IRC channel is a home of raving mad lunatics. Don't venture there unless you have acquired a taste for that.
