Cant play SEIV on windows ME - Help !
 

Hi all,

I am on vacation in Mexico, using someone else,s PC. It runs WIndows ME. I installed SEIV, and upgraded to 1.41. Got my PBW turns via email, played a turn (that part went ok) hit F12 to end turn and get an error: cant save player changes file to <dir...>.
Even tried to upgrade to 1.49 (which worked) but produced the same error.

Help, my PBW fellows have been waiting for my turns for days !

I guess this is due to WIndows ME ?
Can anyone help ?

I doubt its WinME.

Sounds like it may be that SE4 is sending its savegame to a fixed directory, but that directory dosen't exist anymore, since you've changed machines.

Try creating the directory that it's complaining about.

Thanks ! The directory was there, but your hint turned me onto the real problem: the file it was trying to overwrite was marked read-only since I copied it from a CD with a backup of my SEIV stuff... silly me.
