Resistances not stacking?

OK, when I cast two battlefield-wide protection spells, say, Army of Gold or Serpent's Blessing with Gaia's Blessing, the various resistances don't add together (so still only 50% fire or poison resistance, for example).

Is this a bug or WAD? Presumably WAD, but if so, what's the reasoning for not allowing those to stack?

If the whole-battlefield spells don't stack, what other options are available for getting 100% resistance? Do the AOE spells still stack with the BE-type spells?

Thanks

not sure if this is what you mean, but army of lead for example casts ironskin and antimagic. this means that casting antimagic also is pointless. i assume the same applies to army of gold, but i don't know which spells it uses. the army of X spells arn't spells really, just combinations of spells

Re: Resistances not stacking?

OK, if that's true, I guess it makes sense - so you're saying that a spell like Gaia's Blessing is actually the same as casting Serpent's Blessing, Warriors of Neiflheim/Muspleheim, and Storm Warriors all at once, so casting any of those spells separately has no further effect?

So, I would need to use the other AoE type spells (on top of Army/Gaia's Blessing) to get non-commander units up to 100% in any particular resistance?

No spell buffs stack with other instances of a spell buff that provides the same bonus.

(Blesses being an exception, and 100% resists stacking with 50% resists being a bit of a loophole exception)

In other words, unless I'm missing something, there is no way to get 100% resist on your troops unless they already have 50. The only exception is if you take an A9 bless, then you can buff them to 100% SR.

According to the manual Warriors of Niefelheim gives %100, and Fire Ward too. I haven't cast them in a game recently though. Plus there's a bunch of Nationals that start anywhere from 25% to 75% resistant to various elements.

At least Fire Ward does not. I'm not sure about Warriors of Niefelheim. I suspect not.
What about Army of Gold?

At least Warriors of Niefelheim is 50% and I believe Fire Ward is 50% too, and Army of Gold is also 50%.

Re: Resistances not stacking?

Despite what the manual says, I thought all BE resistance spells cap out at 50%. Are there any that do give 100%?

I just want to clarify, so I know who to 'thank' (although I think Frozen Lama is the most correct so far): So if I cast Gaia's Blessing (for the most encompassing example), none of the other BE resistance spells (that grant Lightning, Fire, Cold, or Poison resistance) will add anything extra? But the lesser, AoE/Commander-only type spells will?

Re: Resistances not stacking?

Commander only spells are 100% resists, so they stack with 50% resist spells, the small aoe spells are 50%, so they do not stack with other 50% resist spells.

And yes, the book is wrong about some of the resist numbers.
