AI buys for you ??

How many people play, even occasionally, letting the AI do the purchase and/or deployment for you ??

I just want to hear from the people who do, not from the people who don't

When testing maps I have built I always let the AI buy for me. Saves a lot of time and "you have to work with what you get". ;)

Been a while since I logged any games at the Blitz but at times we used to let the AI buy the forces. I liked it because to a degree it eliminated the "cherry picking" of the best gear that is common in PBEM. The drawback was that games tended to be only 19-20 turns in length (could not set the timer yourself if you let the AI buy for player 1.

I occassionaly do, but mostly just as a change-up from the long campaign I'm slogging through

I have played PBEM like this on a few occasions, but only with a "brave" opponent. It can produce some very interesting games.....

I like it because it forces you to fight with what you're given (as in real life)- but not everyone is up for that!

Drawback, as previously stated, is the inability to change the game length/map/Vhs etc.

Same as Mr Hale takes a bit of time to see what you have due to passes, also more WW2 use it to see what I should be buying:)

I see your point. I'll make a note to see if we can do something about that. Having it stuck at those number of turns is a bit limiting

It is possible to rename the save game to a scenario, load it with the editor, press deploy and then press ( . ) and set the length then rename it back to a save game. It's a PITA but only takes a minute .

Well, if there's interest by all means - but the vast majority of MBT PBEM players I have met like to buy their own forces, and would be quite happy with the number of turns the game normally assigns...

Done it twice for PBEM games, and many times playing the AI.

I rather like it,because it forces you to make do with the force you are dealt to command and utilizing units you would not normally buy.

I don't let the AI deploy that would really take some courage.

It also can be interesting and somewhat a equalizer between two opponents that are not quite equal on game playing ability.

I've done it a few times testing some changes I made when I was playing with picklists.
And once or twice I've let it buy my forces (and I mean once or twice in all the years I've played WinSPMBT) just to see what it came up with.
I've NEVER let it deploy for me tho.
