Mod Recommendations

Hi,

I have not played Dom 3 for several years now, and was wondering what Mods would be recommended for me to use.
Also, how do you know if different Mods are compatible or not?

Please suggest some mod combinations to use.

Some more Info.
I only play SP and love a challenge.

Currently I using these two Mods:
Better Independents and Worthy Heroes.

Can I use CBM with these two or what should I use?
What is the latest version of CBM?
I’m not too interested in New Nations, there are enough 

Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks.

CBM.

Should be compatible with practically everything else, since it rebalances vanilla.

Re: Mod Recommendations

CBM isn't compatible with quite a few mods actually, because of the variety of weapon, armor and monsters it uses. Though the compatibility problems are not show stopping usually.

There are quite a few good mods. CBM is far and away the most popular though.

It would help if you told us what sort of mod you'd like to try.

Re: Mod Recommendations

For nation mods, I can recommend:
  • Tomb Kings (by llamabeast)
  • anything by Burnsaber
  • anything by Sombre
If you're interested in nation mods.....

Also, look up the Mark of the Champion mod. It transforms the Champion's Trident into a flashy helmet, which makes the Arena combats slightly more valuable than otherwise. :)

Lastly, although they aren't technically mods, you might want to look into a NI (no independents) map. The NI maps make a big difference in single-player games. Instead of recruiting hordes of stupid chaff, the AI is forced to recruit its national troops ... which usually results in a more interesting game.

Re: Mod Recommendations

There are also a couple of Better Independents mods, that try to change the cost of the worst indies so the AI won't buy them.

Better Independents works with CBM. Worthy Heroes is included in CBM.

Latest version is 1.6

If you're just playing single player I think mytheology might be of interest to you. It adds a variety of pretenders. There's another pretender mod too, but I forget what it's called. Both are in the mod list in the mod subforum.

Re: Mod Recommendations

I also play mostly solo and I have for years. I dont play with cbm since I find the balance it provides to be player oriented. I will post my favorites but some of them are specifically for adding variation to a game I grew too familiar with so I wouldnt necessarily suggest that you try them all now.

My favorite mods to play with are:
Streamers and Standards (changes the nation flags just because I got bored with the old ones)
Worthy Heroes (adds more heroes to most nations)
Epic Heroes (and yet more heroes)
Mytheology (adds many very interesting pretenders for playing and the AI)
Magic Site Mod (more variety in magic sites)
SingleAge (play with ALL nations at one time)
AI_Opponent_Balance mod (as it says, an effort to improve the AI)
Compressed Nations (puts 11 different very interesting modded nations into one mod)

ALSO:
SoundPack (changes some of the more irritating sound files such as screams and elephants)
SemiRandom (a program that throws designed provinces and/or AI gods onto a map)
Antilarium (Map&Mod combo)
LargeTower_01 map (400 provinces, designed for many players but only two can front you at a time, changes early and mid game play, and limits micromanagement in many ways)
MegaMap (1500 provinces with 3 connected continents and 3 seperated oceans, suitable for using SingleAge and adding many modded nations for up to 90 nations which technically makes that a middle-sized game)

At extreme levels there is:
Chaos Mod (randomizes features of units in the game just to bring back the "learn and use" feeling of when the game was new)
Chaos Games (can be played on Dom3minions.com, in solo mode if you wish, which makes random additions to each province on a random map for the surprise effect)
SemiRandom can also be tried in solo games on Dom3minions.com)

Hmmm thats all I can think of at the moment altho Im sure there are others Im forgetting. Its kindof hard to find the stuff for solo or AI on this forum.

Re: Mod Recommendations

Thanks for the recommendations Gandalf and others.

If I do want to add CBM, what conflicts will I have with the following you mentioned:
Worthy Heroes (adds more heroes to most nations)
Epic Heroes (and yet more heroes)
Mytheology (adds many very interesting pretenders for playing and the AI)
Magic Site Mod (more variety in magic sites)
SingleAge (play with ALL nations at one time)
AI_Opponent_Balance mod (as it says, an effort to improve the AI)

Sounds like Worthy Heroes is already included. Any others or any serious conflicts?

Gandalf, when using Single Age, what is the Filler nations?

Thanks.
