Required # of Research Points

What are the required number of research points at each level? I know only the first few offhand.

1: 40
2: 60
3: 100
4: 160

3:40+60 = 100
4:100+60 = 160
5:160+100 = 260
6:260+160 = 420
7:420+260 = 680
8:680+420 = 1100
9: 1100+680 = 1780

Check Edi's FAQ for a more complete list, but it's just the sum of the previous two levels

And the initial numbers are actually determined by game settings when creating a new game...

Yep, the costs of each level as well as the aggregates for all difficulties are listed in the FAQ sticky thread.
