Movement Question
I have a large army moving out of my cap, ordered to join smaller armies from 2 other provinces, scripted with the y key, so I know who is being sent. Open up the new turn, and the main force, about 300 strong, is patrolling my cap, and the two smaller armies annihilated. A sneaking scout was discovered and killed in my cap.
What happened? Page 72 of the manual says movement battles happen before sneaking enemies are discovered. The wiki says the same. I rechecked my last .trn and sent .2h. The army was moving not on patrol. And the message clearly says a sneaking enemy was discovered, not pinned by a ridiculously remote (but not impossible) DRN. |
Re: Movement Question
The sneaking enemy is probably not related. The enemy was probably moving onto your capital. The two armies blocked each other, which is rare but not unheard of. Then, since blocked armies in a fort switch to patrol, they caught the scout.
Patrolling for sneakers happens after movement, so it really shouldn't have any chance of stopping the army. Added: I had something similar happen in an SP game recently, but without the scout. I don't see any reason to think he was related. |
Re: Movement Question
I had one experience were it seemed like we had two seperate battles. Both our advances were stopped, and we both held our positions... He failed to take my capital and I failed to take his providence.
But it was complicated, because we both had forced draining into the area, so, maybe, I lost to his reinforcement and he to mine... we didn't pay that close of attention, he was being awed by the early game might of Machaka and was about to cede... though, it was the first major confrontation. |

Re: Movement Question
I can confirm, being the ennemy in question, that I haven't moved to his capital this precise turn. My army was moving out from SL capitol, in the hope not to get caught by the armies I thought he would regroup there. And I forgot my gem scout on the way, or so it seems... :(
