Llammaserver and the new patch

It seems appropriate to start a thread about this question:

Since llammaserver itself is being updated with the patch, should we resubmit any pending turns with newly patched turns?

Or is this something that is decided on a game-by-game basis?

thanks

Normally, the current turn of any games you are playing can be submitted from version 3.23 or 3.24. Next turn you'll need to be patched to 3.24.

A new version of Dominions has just been released. The LlamaServer has shut down until llamabeast has a chance to update it.

You can still send in turns as normal (with either the new or old version), and the LlamaServer will process the backlog when it has been patched.

Before you update your copy, make sure to backup your entire Dominions directory. You may find you will still need the old version available for a few days for other multiplayer games you're in.

Copied directly from llamaserver.

Yeah, I read the llammaserver notice; I guess my real question was whether there is any conflict if say,one person sends in a 3.23-turn and another person sends a 3.24-turn. From Gregstorms reply I assume there isn't.

thanks guys

If a players send a 2h file from a newer version then the server it is problem. The other way around usually work.

With Llamaserver it does not matter--it will automatically resolve it.

This scares me--it'll usually work? How can the server resolve it? If turns from two versions are incompatible, then the server can't resolve it.

It seems like people are saying that turns from two adjacent versions are very likely to be compatible. But there's no guarantee of such unless one of the developers says so.

Oh well, I'll trust in LlamaServer. It has not let me down yet!

no, you trust in llamabeast to know what he's talking about and what he's doing, not llamaserver itself...

Re: Llammaserver and the new patch

Did you not get an e-mail from the LlamaServer when the new patch came out? I thought it sent an e-mail to everyone explaining all this stuff.

Basically, the way it's designed is such that it is impossible to do anything wrong with regard to when you patch. So you will be fine. :)

Re: Llammaserver and the new patch

When you submit turns you submit orders. Those are the same in 3.23b than in 3.24 (move here, forge this, send this threath message to your neighbour, cast a nasty event on a random opponent capital, etc etc)

When te turn resolves, only then the changes are meaningful.
such as spellcasting ai choosing this or that spell, that is resolved by the server, either 3.23b or 3.24
