Battlefield expansion

Does anyone have a definitive explanation on the size of battlefield expansion?

I'm facing Ermor now, and the battlefield has become quite large. My BF spells only effect maybe half the troops. With 14000 undead in the field, BF spells become quite ineffective.

Yes, I have posted this question before. I'm just looking for a number/ a ratio, that I can work with.
