Broken Ground--Is it even possible?
Aside from improved casting AI, the only improvement I could want on Dominions 3 battles is more interesting battlefields. Perhaps including terrain areas that cost more action points to move through, or that have obstacles granting cover from arrows, or are impassable...
Fortress storming has the walls and gate, but it would be interesting to have streams crossing the battlefield with only a few places to ford them, or thick forests that impede the motion of size-6 units and block some arrow fire, or the like. Can this be done, or do I have to wait for dominions 4? |
Re: Broken Ground--Is it even possible?
Sorry for being blunt, but on all accounts, no. None of your ideas cannot be implemented in the form you stated them.
The only alternate I can think of is to sue map commands to give a certain province special modded indy commanders that have #onebattlespells. Then you could a province which has darkness, or storm or some else BF enchantment always casted in a battle (well, at least until the province is conquered and the special commander killed). |
Re: Broken Ground--Is it even possible?
Short answer: You'll have to wait.

In any case, I personally don't like this idea unless you can see the battle map beforehand and make your orders accordingly. |

If I were a betting man though, I'd bet my house the wait would be long. Possibly endless :] |
Re: Broken Ground--Is it even possible?
I thought battlemap modding was introduce in 3.15? There were some significant problems with their intersection with forts though...
See here for Ballbarian's post regarding them: http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=44043 Seems like you probably couldn't do most of what you want, but things like streams crossing the battlefield, or different choke point arrangements, should be possible. |
