Soviet Guards Units in LC
 

All,

I've got a long campaign I'm playing at the moment and I was wondering if there is any way to convert my tanks to Guards tanks? It appears that you can upgrade your leg units to Guards between battles but from what I see I have to drop my tankers and re-purchase Guards tanks in order make the switch. Being the selfish rascal that I am, I'm rather attached to their experience levels and if I could convert them it would be great.

Any information would be very appreciated.

Not possible.
You'll have to sell your exp.infnty,and buy green tankers.

The only difference between a Regular tank unit and a Guards tank unit is the Guard unit starts with higher experience and Morale so if you've been playing the LC for awhile they probably already have basic Guard level experience or better now.

Quite so.

I regularly start with line infantry and then convert those to guards elements later on, as the guards infantry tend to have better weapons (esp personal A/T weaponry)than line. Tank elements in a guards formation are however the exact same as in line formations, with the morale and experience boost being part of the formation as Don says.

If you started a later campaign (post 1/1942) where guards formations are available, then it may be worth your while starting with those in your core.

Thanks guys for the advice and I'll just upgrade the leg units instead. Most of my tankers are almost elite and I desperately working on my scouting skills as a well hidden AT unit can ruin ones day... ;)
