Partnerships and Visibility of Systems

I don't understand this:
AFAIK, I can see every system someone I have a partnership with has ships, planets etc. in. Yet one guy ("B")I'm in a PBW game with keeps telling me he can see every system of mine, although he only has a trade and research alliance with me and regardless if a ship of one of his partners is in it or not. We have both partnerships with a third player ("C").

Is it some kind of chain thing, where he can look into every system C can? But then I can't explain why I can't do this reversely, because I can't look into those of his systems where C isn't in. :confuse:

I hope this is not too confusing,

silly question;
he's not playing an "ancient race" is he?

if not start scanning for cloaked ships!

Re: Partnerships and Visibility of Systems

If he was playing an ancient race, he still wouldn't be able to see ships, colonies etc.

Cloaked ships in my systems is nearly impossible.

Can "B" really see your systems, or is he just saying he can see them? Maybe he's just playing mind games with you...

Seriously, is he seeing your colonies and ships in the system? He could see the stars and planets just from the partner sharing maps.

i think he is screwing with you. i can often tell where things are and what is going on even if i cant see it though.

you can see what your partner's ships can see. so if C has ships in your space, he can see what is near those ships. also, if he has your system charts, he can see whenever something changes on a planet (ruins go away, value changes, planets created, atmosphere converted) if he is just paying attention from turn to turn.

furthermore, when combat occurs he can judge by process of elimination who it was between. He would know for a fact if it was him or his partner, and he would have a good idea if it was one of his other allies.

If he can see your score, he can tell how fast you are producing ships and colonizing planets. by considering the planets he can see in your systems and counting that against your total number of systems and total number of planets, he can look at the map and figure out which are the most likely based on planet type.

also, the border map helps you figure out where peoples systems are.

Re: Partnerships and Visibility of Systems

I've done a hotseat test with race B having a partnership with races A and C, A and C having no treaty with each other. Player letters are in the same order of the races in the game. Race A was not able to see Race C's ships, whereas Race C was able to see race A's ships. I think that in this case, being Last in the player order gives you the advantage, but maybe there's some other explanation for this bug.

Could you sent this bug along with your savegame file to MM so they can take care of this bug?

Slaughtermeyer: I think you got it, we have the exactly same order of players in the game!

Weird.

I have tested it and can confirm this bug. I have sent MM an report and a savegame.
