Combat and terrain
Hi there, I am a newbye and looking for help that my national forum can't provide.
I would like to know if the combat system takes in account the kind of terrain of the province where the fight is taking place. Things like heavy cavalry fighting at a disadvantage in a forest or hill province, or light troops and auxiliary infantry getting a bonus there. All help appreciated! ;) |
Re: Combat and terrain
For the most part, there aren't any such combat effects; swamps are the notable exception. Have a look at the wiki page on terrain (combat effects table is at the bottom):

Quote:
As far as terrain is concerned, fighting underwater impairs troops that aren't fit for it, too, fighting in a cave makes units fight in darkness and fighting in the void results in "Dimensional overload". But it's not like specific types of units receive boni, like cavalry would be better suited instead of infantry in some kind of terrain or so. |
Re: Combat and terrain
Er, as far as I know, fighting in a cave is *supposed* to make you fight in darkness, but it doesn't actually happen.
Heat and cold have big effects, as does swamp and water. Other effects include rain and snow and storm. |
