Ethereal, summons and weapons

I understand that an ethereal being gets a 75% chance that an opponent may 'miss' when attacking unless it is a magical weapon.

I ran into something that makes me wonder if we need to expand the definition.

I have always assumed (yes, I know what that does)that unless a weapon is actually labeled magical it is deemed to be conventional. Soooooooo, if you have a summoned unit is its weapon considered magic even if it isn't noted? I mean it IS a magical being...

What has made me think of this is a battle I just had. I had about 30 mystics and all where buffed with Etherealness. A Tart jumped me and hit me with Rain of Stones and wiped out almost ALL of them.:(

I understand that Rain of stones IS a spell..and a spell I would guess is magic by definition. So I guess I am wondering if ANY and EVERY spell is considered magic in regard to units regardless of what the spell is.

Dumb question...maybe, but I honestly thought that a spell like Rain of stones would be more conventional than say..Pillar of Flame.

Not all spells are magical damage. In fact, Rain of Stones is not, according to the manual. It's listed as Mundane.

I'm not sure why your Mystics died. It's possible the manual is wrong here.

Thanks....

I thought I was the only one who actually believes the manual.;)

I'd be interested in seeing that.

Rain of stones does seem to give more head hits; even so all seems improbable.

Hmmm.. I'm guessing that you attacked; and that you had a communion and either of two things happened.

1). Tart Ros'd before the communion master cast ethereal
2). You cast BE before all the mystics joined the communion.

Re: Ethereal, summons and weapons

BE doesn't work in a communion. It's AoE 1, not caster.

If they were Ethereal, they had to cast it themselves. Or have gear, I suppose.

Re: Ethereal, summons and weapons

Yes, I DID attack and watching the battle it seemed that all of the Mystics were firing off one by one with the spell and all of a sudden RoS hit and they where gone.

Regardless, that is history and whether I didn't script right or it was a glitch, I found out what I needed to know...thanks guys:up:

Too bad there isn't a "Self ethereal", I guess "self luck" is the go to in this case, and it works for magic damage too though only at 50% chance.
