Never seen before - Bug-?
Playing 1.49, non modded, large system, all wormholes connected.
Sct goes into system which has 2 wormholes, sct goes to 2nd wormhole, which according to map is connected to another system, try several times to send ship thru wormhole, will not go thru, just stays there, still have movemnt points. No msgs on the hole, nothing shows when you click on it or anything out of the ordinary, sct will not enter or go thru, I sent sct to other worm hole went thru no problem... I've never seen this before, am i missing something or bug it just won't go thru it... just some ideas mac |
Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
Could it be a one-way warp point? These are easy to make in the map generator by accident, but I have heard that sometimes - just sometimes - they can be created by the map generator.
I don't know if they'd be identified as such though. Can anyone say what a 1waywp looks like? Has anyone seen one generated by the game? (rather than the map editor) Do they differ from "artificial" ones in any way? If it's a bug, perhaps it's something to do with that new facility to prevent warp point opening / closing. ------------------ SE4 Code: L GdY $ Fr- C- Sd T!+ Sf-- Tcp-- A% M>M+ MpD! Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
One way warppoints are only visible at the entrance, and look exacly the same as normal ones.
If you see the blue swirly, you should be able to enter. If you just see the warp line on the galaxy map, then it's a one-way going towards you. |
Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
The blue whirly is on my side where I tried to send the sct thru. It looks just like a normal wormhole entrance. I looked for anything that might look or say its unstable etc, but nothing, looks just like all other holes. The lines do connect with the next system. I thought it might be one way, but I can't get thru it?????? I tried over 5 different times. Sct just sits there, doesn't use movement just stays status quo, I'm sending sct into the adjacent system, have to go thru several others first and look at it from other side, but so far it looks ok?????

Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
Did you somehow accidentally mark the other system as a system to avoid? Maybe the other side of the wormhole has a minefield, and the AI "knows" that, try removing the avoid minefields movement option.

Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
This is early game, turn 24 in game, just started it, trying to teach my 23yr old son the game. Checked the avoid system button, its not on, hopefully I'll know more when I get sct on the other side and see if I can get thru from there or if anything looks different from that side. So far everything looks ok. It just happened as we were quiting for the night, System I'm in is empty of life with plenty of planets, I don't think there is Ai player there, I set game for low players to teach my kid the playing system, only have 5 AI opponents in game, large map, but you never know....

Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
Maybe post the .gam file so we can take a look at it? Nothing obvious jumps out from your description.

Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
This happened to me once in 1.41
There used to be a 2-way warp point going between two systems, then for some unknown reason one side vanished and it became one-way (no log message or anything). I assumed that either it collapsed and a bug made it not kill the other end, or some special event made it happen. |
Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
Something like this happened to me once in some previous Version as well. Not sure what corrected just remember that something I did fixed it and I kept playing without thinking about it.
Was something obscure... might have actually been just going through it from other side or something. Oh well... I don't really remember so I am just guessing wildly about what I think I did. |
Re: Never seen before - Bug-?
This may sound strange, but are you using the "warp" command or the "move" command? I've had a problem on occasion where I use the "move" command to send a ship to another system, and for one reason or another the pathfinding code can't figure out it can use a particular warp point. Using the "warp" command should ALWAYS work...
Of course, if you can't see the other system, you can't be using the "move" command, but it's the best answer I can come up with right now... |
