3D Urban Environment
Hi fellow grognards!
I'm currently curious about the three-dimensional urban environment on SP. Is there any difference between multi-hex govt/factory building, single hex stone, and wood building in terms of height? (ok, the red bar says height 0 for example, but is there any hidden or maybe random height on the building itself?) I've ever tried to make 3d urban environ map on pbem, and found out that the * (asterix) key is useless to determining building heights. So i ended up using hills (with that slopes too) and put building on top. unfortunately, these slopes provided a good observation post for tanks too as i couldn't expand any building into the slope, which i didn't want that to be, since in reality tanks couldn't climb high rise building. Any reply appreciated, thanks |
Re: 3D Urban Environment
Buildings are simply "built up area" hexes, with nice little graphics laid on top rather than a grey (for example) coloured felt mat as in tabletop wargames with random 1/300 buildings laid out for effect only. Even the multi hex ones are simply that, but larger.

Re: 3D Urban Environment
Ok, the answer is quite clear, thanks.
So, I wonder, how to create a good high-rise battle arena in SP? As we know that high multistoried buildings (10-20 storeys)can extremely affect the planning and flow of modern battle (ok, this applies to MBT too, even greater). Or,maybe this has been well implemented in SP, only abstracted, since SP's scope is quite large (50 meters hex and 3 minutes turn). Please, give me your opinion Thanks |
Re: 3D Urban Environment
SP buildings are all the same height above the ground level. I cannot recall if higher or lower than trees.

Re: 3D Urban Environment
Ok, so I presume it's abstracted. That's satisfactory. Thanks for the answers Andy.
