Israeli Puma
3 Types (I think) of Puma in game
120 + 130 Engineer & Mineclear 422 Heavy APC as used by engineers The first 2 have identical armour stats 422 armour stats vary slightly on all facings but still class it as having a dozer blade fitted as does the icon? Infantry formation 65 contains all 3 types |

Re: Israeli Puma
This unit should be using Icon 821 with the "steel" ratings from the other two. Now fixed in the master

Re: Israeli Puma
Many Nations APCs are now armed with ROWS mounted weapons. These are more accurate than hand aimed weapons and can be fired from within the vehicle. Will these weapons be made for the game?
One of these is mounted on the Puma (7.62mm mg). Also I would like to know if the 60mm Soltam mtr will be included? This mtr is mounted on many IDF vehicles. The older version is loaded from the outside of the vehicle. The newer longer ranged version mounted on the Merkava IV and Namer APC are loaded and fired from inside the vehicle. Its main purpose is to take out RPG and MG teams at long distance. From the little that is out there the Soltams mounted in tanks and apcs is equiped with 30 rounds of ammo, mostly HE though other types are carried. The Puma mounts the externaly loaded version but they may have been updated to the newer one. Just wondering? |

The 60mm tank mortars are subsumed in the smoke dischargers. In any case - there are insufficient weapon slots to put those onto tanks as a separate HE weapon. Cheers Andy |
Re: Israeli Puma
Mobhack,
Dates for the various RWS systems is hard to come by. I did find that one of the firt IDF vehicles to mount one was the Merkava MkIIID or Dor-Dolet. This was the last production version of the Merkava MkIII and incorperated some of the features that would later be found on the MkIV. But I could find no dates for this vehicle. I did find a March 2005 date for one of the Elbit R-OWS systems. this date fits with contracts for system sales to Austria------May 2005 Portugal-----Feb 2006 Romania and Slovenia----July 2007 Belgium------July? 2007 in concert with their Pirana III program but systems were also fitted to other vehicles. The other date was for a completed contract by Rafael for the Mini-Samson R-OWS. The Canadians called it the Protected Weapons Station (PWS). The first part of the contract was completed in the second quarter of 2001 (May-June). At first they were armed with a M240 7.62 MG but the system can mount anything from a 7.62mm to a 40mm Mk19 AGL. The original systems were mounted on some M113s and some LAVIIIs. This may need its own thread! My brain hurts:sick: About the Puma. It has an extra slot so fitting the 60mm Soltam is no problem. Its primary purpose is to take out infantry MG and ATGM teams at long range. 30 rounds are carried and most are HE. Puma and R-OWS. I have seen no pictures of a Puma without one. I have seen a Puma with a R-OWS mounting a 50cal but like I said before dates are hard to come by. On the newer versions with the "Aquarium" structure on top of the hull a 7.62mm is mounted to the R-OWS. |
