Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
A couple of questions:
1) If you have many facilities which boost resource production, for example a system-wide mineral scanner, a local one, and system and local robotoid factories, how is total output effected? Are all the bonuses applied, or just the best one? 2) Is there any easy way to get a list of what system-wide facilities are present in a system? ------------------ Not *that* button! |

In fact, the game shows a note when you add a system-wide ability facility to a queue if there is another one present in the system (You can turn off this in the empire options screen). This is not coherent, IMO http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon9.gif . I think the best bonus is applied.
quote:
2) Is there any easy way to get a list of what system-wide facilities are present in a system?

I've requested it in every Version since 1.35. For the industrial fans like me is annoying to check every planet in each system to find if there is the system-wide facilities that we use to use. |
Re: Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
But beyond the system-wide facilities, what about a system-wide facility and a 'local' facility (like a system mineral scanner and a robotoid factory)...do these stack, or does only the highest apply in this sort of case, too?

Re: Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
System-wide abilities and local abilities stack. However, i've read some Posts that say that some facilities don't work correctly, for example the religious shrines. I'll do some experiments to see what happens to production when different types of resource-gathering facilities are combined.
These experiments will need paper&pencil, due to the lack of an "system report" screen or so. I think it is needed. |
Re: Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
Shrines work fine, except for the fate shrine(reduces bad events chance).
SE4 takes all of the abilities (as defined in the text files) from each facility, and applies the best value from each. System-wide is a different ability from single-planet, and thus stacks. The only known exceptions are in components, such as shield generators, and bonus movement. |
Re: Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
I brought up this question a while back and found out the following:
-local facilities of different types do add up. (eg, mineral scanner and robotoid factory) -local facilites and system-wide facilies do add up.(eg. system Mineral Scanner and a local robotoid factory) -system-wide facilites DO NOT ADD up. (eg. System Mineral Scanner and System Robotoid Factory). In regards to Religious facilites I don't know. I did some tests of the standard facilites. I thought someone proved that local facilities DON'T add up. In fact, they were disappointed that they spent lots of research points on Minerals level 4 (after researching computers & getting the Robotoid Factories), and ended up getting nothing useful for the trouble. If local facilities DO stack, I may have to rethink some of my research strategies... |
Re: Resource bonuses and system-wide facilities
Accoring to my tests, the local facilies do add up. But I think I may have done that test under 1.41... can't quite remember. I'll do another test and report back.
