more questions

Again, thanks for a great game. 2 questions: There are times when I have artillery set up and it seems impossible to change the first fire zone. I have tried cease fire and then tried to move it but it goes back to where it was. Unfortunately, this has resulted in me shelling my own troops at times. What am I doing wrong?
I recently played a scenario where I captured every nazi marked hex and also decimated their troops. I was given a draw for this. How is this possible? Thanks for your help.

First question:
If the battery is plotted to fire, but communications have been lost temporarily, then the plotted fire cannot be cancelled or adjusted. This is likely to be your problem here. Check the battery's (or possibly observers) comms status.

Second question:
Remember that your own losses are taken into account in the victory calculations!. You may have thrashed his troops and received some bonus points for the objectives, but he also thrashed your guys too (and so received VP for the damage he did to you).

You need to make sure that you reduce own-force points casualties whilst maximising OPFOR points casualties. Objective hex points are a bonus on top of that only - not usually the primary source of VP. (Though possession of all the objectives is an early end-game trigger eventually, if the enemy is broken).

The loss of one or two very expensive units can sometimes make the difference between achieving a lower result and a better one. So look at your losses in that game and tot up the buy cost of the destroyed or damaged units on your side. A tank carrying 20 damage is still 20 VP to the enemy even if it is not destroyed. A rifle team with 6 damage, ditto - if you have a hundred rifle teams with moderate to heavy damage (but still alive) that is still quite a lot of VP the enemy has gained even if he has not achieved the full VP for a squad kill on any of them.

Cheers
Andy
