Question About Strike Aircraft with PGM's
(unlimited ammo mode)
Why do they sometimes dive in and strafe with guns? I understand that they may not be getting a lock-on, even on visible (to me and/or the spotter) targets, but it doesn't make much sense to me to be risking a multi-bazillion dollar F-22 carrying JDAMs in a high risk SAM/AAA environment just for a couple of quick squirts of 20mm on a concrete bunker. Is there a way to force those aircraft to simply skip the strike call if they don't get a lock-on (IE: Go around and make another pass on the next turn)? Turning off the guns doesn't seem to make a difference, the aircraft will still dive in, only it won't fire its guns. SHOOT THE PILOT, R |

The morale of that story is select a target he has a decent chance of seeing & hence getting a lock on.
At times you might want him not to I send planes in on strafing runs on purpose sometimes even if they still have standoff weapons left. |
