Component Lister
I have written a small utility to help me tidy up the mess I've made of my modding.
It will read a component file then output a list, sorting the components by family, or by general group, or by tech requirements. Not sure if there's something like this already available, but I needed the programming practice. If you wish to use it feel free, please let me know if it does anything odd... I have tested it a bit but it might still be a bit wobbly (for pity's sake don't run it on your only copy of a component.txt file! just in case) http://irregulars.org/ComponentLister.exe [ 27 November 2001: Message edited by: Mark Walton ]</p> |

Thanks Mark. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif There are a few out, but yours is a welcome addition. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Re: Component Lister
I could use a tool for editing the "AI_AI_Construction_Vehicles.txt". http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif The problem at the moment is, when you insert a new build command in one of the queues, you have to renumber all the entries and that's quite a pain.

I was just going to suggest the same thing http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif . So, I guess, there is no tool for that, yet. That would be very helpful. Rollo |
Re: Component Lister
OK I'll get started on that soonish.

Like I said, I'm (still) learning VC++ and want to get a bit more practical experience (only way I'll learn anything). Nothing too complex please... Ultimately, I would like to write a fully integrated mod handler and full data editor. But that's a little way in the future (should be ready in time for SE7, I think!) |
