Muspelheim

I'm looking for a mod with this nation : Surtur and the fire giants, does it exist ? I know there was one for Dom2 but I couldn't find anything for Dom3.
Any chance to have this as an "official" nation in a new update ?

New update? lol.

No such nation exists that I am aware of. You are of course free to create one.

Maybe I get my myths confused, but how would Muspelheim be different from Hellheim?

It's not Nordic Muspelheim, but you might try looking at Hinnom for some fire themed giants, with an extra helping of blood on the side.

The chance of a new patch is vanishingly small.

The chance that patch will include actual game content is even smaller. (Last patch was basically some system interface goodies and mod tools - basically, anything they do on whatever they're currently working on that they can easily port into dom3 might make it in).

They are not working on dom3 anymore, nor are they working on dom4. They are working on something different, and will not say what, and it'll come out when they're done.

Hel is the underworld, the realm of the dead, the place where the kind of losers who don't make it into Valhalla because they're cowards end up in.

Muspel is the fiery realm of the fire giants. It's essentially the polar opposite of Nieflheim : where Niefel giants embody glaciers and try to bring about an endless winter, Muspel giants represent volcanoes and try to burn out the world.

The only way those 2 realms are any close is if you inject a dose of Christianity into it and equate Hel with Hell. The two have nothing in common, however. Hel is closer to the Roman Hades : a realm of shadows, illusions, darkness and nothingness. Not a lake of fire and persecution.

Its hard to know what Muspelheim is because there isn't actually that much mythological material on it, at least not preserved. Basically all we have are references to it and to its chief denizen Surtur, and know Surtur's role in Ragnarok. But about the character of Muspelheim itself we know nothing.

Re: Muspelheim

The problem with making a Muspelheim nation is that muspelheim and niefelheim were pretty much the nordic mythology answer to the elemental plains of fire and frost. Not much to build on there. In the Niefelheim nation they fixed this by merging niefelheim with Jotunheim. And the rimtursars were not actually shown. If they were to do the same thing with muspelheim then it would look almost the same, except for having fire instead of water.

Even less is known about Muspel than Niefel. Surt, for an example, was just the guy in charge of guarding the gate in to Muspelheim. Little is known of what was actually past that gate.......

It would be interesting if Surt would show up as a late game Merc though. Or in a rare special event.
