Muspelheim
I'm looking for a mod with this nation : Surtur and the fire giants, does it exist ? I know there was one for Dom2 but I couldn't find anything for Dom3.
Any chance to have this as an "official" nation in a new update ? |

Maybe I get my myths confused, but how would Muspelheim be different from Hellheim?

It's not Nordic Muspelheim, but you might try looking at Hinnom for some fire themed giants, with an extra helping of blood on the side.

Its hard to know what Muspelheim is because there isn't actually that much mythological material on it, at least not preserved. Basically all we have are references to it and to its chief denizen Surtur, and know Surtur's role in Ragnarok. But about the character of Muspelheim itself we know nothing.

The problem with making a Muspelheim nation is that muspelheim and niefelheim were pretty much the nordic mythology answer to the elemental plains of fire and frost. Not much to build on there. In the Niefelheim nation they fixed this by merging niefelheim with Jotunheim. And the rimtursars were not actually shown. If they were to do the same thing with muspelheim then it would look almost the same, except for having fire instead of water.
Even less is known about Muspel than Niefel. Surt, for an example, was just the guy in charge of guarding the gate in to Muspelheim. Little is known of what was actually past that gate....... It would be interesting if Surt would show up as a late game Merc though. Or in a rare special event. |
