All Mods Crash WW on Mac OSX 10.6.4
Anyone else having this problem on Mac? the only one that doesn't crash is "Absolute Warfare."
EDIT: I don't think anyone uses this forum any more, but... for anyone who comes looking: The version of Weird Worlds on Steam works fine on Mac OS. No crashes with any of the mods I have that used to crash on the PPC version that needed Rosetta. It's nice to have a native 64-bit Intel version. I wonder if there will be a port to Apple M1... probably not. I still like this 2D game more than the 3D game they put out later, so it would be cool to see it updated again... |

I haven't had that problem.

I don't have anything Apple related, but I asked my neighbor (who has a hackintosh) and he says he doesn't have the problem.

I'm on 10.6.5 mostly playing Drives R Us and Odd Adventures, and everything works fine. dysamoria's problem seems to be local.

Re: All Mods Crash WW on Mac OSX 10.6.4
Dysamoria,
Out of curiosity, do you have the mac patch installed? I know that before the 1.02 patch was released for mac, macs couldn't run most of the mods. The ones they couldn't run would crash all the time, or nearly all the time, depending on the mod. So if you don't have that patch installed, it might cause the symptoms you describe. |

Re: All Mods Crash WW on Mac OSX 10.6.4
The game definitely is crashing upon ship explosion. All i have to do is sit at the menu and wait till one of the ships blows up and BAM it quits. No crash message from Mac OS either. Is there something possibly weird about the image fracture process in mods that could do this? Or the explosion fx? i'm kinda frustrated here. :-( i forgot about this game for a while and now i'm playing again and can't use any mod but Absolute Warfare.
i even repatched the game, just in case. No change. |
Re: All Mods Crash WW on Mac OSX 10.6.4
explosion particles sounds like a good guess. I know on my iPad that upper/lower case matters, so maybe there's an issue there?
WW plain vanilla version uses both types of ship fracturing (pre-defined and computed at explosion), so it seems unlikely that there's an issue there. It could be possible that a mod has a ship with a pre-defined fracturing and an error in that, but most mod ships don't need it and don't have it, opting for the easier and randomness of on-the-fly fracturing. i don't actually have a mac, but those are my thoughts, fwiw. |
