Re: Diplomacy question

There is no diplomacy. Keep a strong army and enough PD in most provinces that the AI does not consider you easy pickings. Otherwise you will end up in simultaneous war with all the AIs around you.

That way you can (hopefully) crush the AIs one or two at a time instead of being overrun by all of them.

Re: Diplomacy question

Generally 11 in PD on a border nation will convince the AI not to attack you.

And you can send the AI gifts. It doesnt make it like you but you can use it to your advantage. Such as..... the AI on the OTHER side of a strong undead nation, I like to send it Herald Lances. It helps to keep the undead nation from getting out of control. And the lances dont tend to be a problem for me when I finally get around to attacking the nation I sent them to.

Hmm, then i must be thinking about a different game ;p

Well i have one more question!
How do you dispel world enchantments?

Re: Diplomacy question

Eitehr with the Dispel spell from the Enchantment school or override it with one of your own (best bet is trying to override with the same spell, since a successful override dispels the original and sets it to you).

Re: Diplomacy question

The Dispel spell will try to remove one of the world enchantments at random.

If there are five world enchantments you have a 20% chance of the Dispel spell trying to knock off the enchantment you want removed. Not the best odds, especially if your dumping in upwards of 70 astral gems.

Thus, as Edi says, its best to try to replace the enchantment with your own. With some, such as Burden of Time, this may not be a better.

Re: Diplomacy question

No. Casting a different global while the slots are full will try to overwrite one of the existing ones.

Dispel allows you to pick which one you want to kill.

There are a number of reasons you may want to Dispel instead of replace. As you say, you may not want the effect up at all.
Also Dispel is fairly cheap and low path requirement, so given the gems/caster you have available you may be more likely to succeed with it.
It may also be easier to get donations from other players to Dispel a problem global than to transfer it to yourself, unless you have a very strong alliance.

Re: Diplomacy question

You may be able to overwrite it but dont want to because the global being bad for your nation like utterdark or burden of time.

Re: Diplomacy question

Utterdark is actually a horrible spell. Too expensive, too hard to cast and doesn't bring much to the table unless you're a blood nation (and everyone else isn't). BoT and Utterdark should switch places I feel.

As for dispel, it's a waste of gems.
You can never know how many gems a nation invested in a global so you'll most likely end up wasting a lot of gems even if you do dispel.
That especially goes for devastating globals like BoT and such.
For example, someone casts BoT with only 70 gems, so everybody contributes gems for dispel and it works, and than the next turn the same nation casts with 150 gems. At this either nobody has gems to dispel or they'll waste gems on small dispels.

So even when you think dispel is a good idea it's not.

Re: Diplomacy question

So how do you get rid of BoT or similar things that you just don't want up?
Do you just suffer with them?
