Goodbye.

Allow me to express my disappointment with "GOLD" SEIV.

Having already paid my $80.00 CDN for SE IV, a game that I forgave for its early dependence on patching. I am sick to learn that I would now have to pay another $80.00 CDN (with a $15.00 US rebate!) to recieve the rest of the game.

No, thankyou. It coulda been fun, but I'm going back to the MOO series and never looking back. I feel burned.

"To recieve the rest of the game"

Excuse me? Want to name a feature that's in SE4:G that A. wasn't in SE4 and B. was promised to be in SE4?

The ONLY leg you have to stand on is drones. That is it. Do not go by the information in the text files, a lot of that is old notes..

You ay have *expected* other things to be in there, but that is a different story. And if that happens to be included in a new release? You're not buying the "rest of the game". You're buying new features.

Here's something else to think on. The following is a (partial) list of things added since SE4 was released:
<blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><hr>
-map editor
-Added a selection of whether you wish to save your designs with your empire when you save your empire.
- When the host logs in to a game, he can go to the Game Options window where there is now a "Reset Passwords" button.
-The System Gravitational Shield now prevents warp points closing within the system. This prevents warp points closing into or out of the system by all players (including you!
- Access to the Autosave options under the main Options window.
-Added the option "Players can save map during a game" to game setup.
-Added a "Save Map" button to the Quadrant tab of the Game Setup Window.
-Added a "Move Ten" button to the Transfer Cargo and Unit Transfer windows.
-Added Game Option: No Ruins on planets.
-Added Game Option: Can only colonize planets of the same planet type as your home planet (regardless of technology).
-Game Option: Can only colonize planets with the same atmosphere as your home planet.
-Added Empire Option for Next/Previous Ship button to skip fleets.
-Added A Weapon to Hit modifier to the weapon mounts.
-Added Captured ships will have their reload times increased by 10 combat turns (this is modifiable in the Settings.txt file).
-Added Added an option to a game setup to disable intelligence entirely.
-Added Combat Replay capability to the log window.
-Added Ability to set the fleet leader for a fleet. (Just left click on the ship in the fleet report).
-Added Option to have all players start with planets of the same size.
-Added 3 facilities and 2 weapons to Crystalline Technology.
-Added 3 facilities and 2 weapons to Temporal Technology.
-Added 3 facilities and 1 weapon to Psychic Technology.
-Added "Scrap Facil Types" button to colony window.
<hr></blockquote>

This is addition to all the fixes. Most companies barely get the game working right, to say nothing of adding features! A lot of these seem to be based on discussions we've had here, too.

Re: Goodbye.

I think that if Smiloid230 is not enjoying the game for any reason, he should find one he likes. The end product of playing games is to have fun, and if he's not, he should move on to something else. But for myself, even though I've only played for a short time, I think this is a great game for serval reasons. I like the continual effort that the company seems to put into the game. Listening to the players wishes. But the thing I enjoy most about the game is that the company doesn't try to tell me how to play the game, they let me decide the rules that I want to play by. Every other game I've played has told me how I'm going to play by setting the rules in stone, but not here. These are only a couple of reasons, but the reason I mention these things is to say that I will gladly pay for the gold Version of this game in hopes that the company will continue giving me what I want. I hope that no body flames me for these comments, because I hope that everyone finds the game they're looking for. I think I have. BTW, I will check out MOO3 when it comes out also.
