Single Player Cheating
How do you cheat in single player? I assume they're not in code form.
I'm asking because I'm trying to do some testing and it'd really speed things along if I could just cheat myself the supplies instead of hitting end turn...again...and again...and again. |
Re: Single Player Cheating
There are 4 ways to effect changes to the game.
1) command line switches 2) map commands 3) mod commands 4) directly editing the files To add supplies you can use the command switch of --supplies X Supply multiple 50-300 (default 100) You can use map commands to design a pretender with lots more nature magic than would normally be allowed. Have all your starting commanders start with supply boosting equipment. Or add a supply boosting magic site to your capital. You can use mod commands to boost your pretender or make your units require less supplies, or give your nation early access to supply-boosting spells. Direct editing I wont cover. |

And how do I do these things?

Re: Single Player Cheating
im trying to set up SP games where the AI play much like a player would (altho a very dumb one). I find it a much better solution of giving good scales to the other players then setting them into AI on the first turn then turning up the difficulty of the AIs (it would lead to very unrealistic hordes of slingers and such)
I'm quite satisfied with the results because with high production scales these AIs tend to make lots of national units and archers. There reamins one area where these AIs would use some help: research. They will slack behind unless i restrict my own research in some way. (but then it becomes too different than MP and cannot be used for testing) Is there a way to have them have say an awake pretender with good scales and 100 RP? |
Re: Single Player Cheating
For testing purposes, the most useful thing I've found is the Debug Mod. All research is done (all spells are level 0) and there is a summonable Debug Sensei with 9 in all paths who generates gems and 1S versions of Wish and GoR. You can set pretty much anything up quickly with that.

Command switches are listed by calling dom3 with the help switch (dom3 -h). Or if you are on a difficult OS such as Windows, you can look here... http://www.dom3minions.com/docs/CommandLine.txt Using those is pretty well covered here.... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=44262 Modding, and Map commands, both have documentation in your docs directory. Again, if you have something like WinXP that would probably be in something like.. C:\program files\dominions3\doc\ both of those involve editing plain text files using whatever editor you like (such as NotePad for Windows) |
