Game designer needs help

I was directed to this forum in the hopes you could help. I'm working on a CRPG, with several others, and I've been assigned to work on the weapons. The game is set in an alternate Earth, where the Nazis won the war, and the hero roams an occupied America with the Resistance. That means new weapons, based off of totally differant circumstances than led to, say, the M-16. The problem is, none of the books I've checked out from the library give more than cursory detail on the weapons I need to research, preferring instead to discuss their development and their impact in battle. Can you guys help me out? The first thing I need- which tells you how difficult it is trying to get this info-is details on the magazine capacity of a Parabellum "Luger," particularly the models that carried 9mm bullets. I can tell you the value of every Luger model made depending on it's condition, but I can't find a simple thing like the magazine load...

I used to play a paper and pencil RPG called Cyberpunk. It had a very detailed system for describing firearms in terms of FBI reports. You might look for a copy of it or some of it's material in used book stores or in file-sharing apps. Try looking there.

If you live in the US, I would suggest that you go to a good local gun store. You will find books there that give very intimate details about all kinds of firearms including detailed drawings. Another thing you could is go to a local Gun Show. Collectors there may have examples of the firearms you are looking for information on.

You may also check out Pop sci or Pop mech.
They have run some intresting articals on "future wepons". Also check out stuff like the history chanels web site they have a show that runs about the history of the gun. Try to contact a gun maker or the NRA P.R. people They would love it if you you portray one of their guns in a "positve way" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
good luck

Another good source is Steve Jackson Games' GURPS High-Tech (link).

According to my copy, the Luger 9x19mm Parabellum has an 8-round magazine (plus a ninth round in the chamber), and could also use a 32-round "snail-drum" magazine.

Do a search for GUN SMITHING. Then look for materials on Military weapondary. You have to be creative when you think about things such as the evolution of firearms. Also check out the History Channel Weapons of War series and History of The Gun Series. They should yeild some info for you. Best of luck. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Probably 8. That's the most universally accepted I could find, although I did find a couple places claiming more.

According to http://www.gebirgsjaeger.4mg.com/Gebirgs3.htm#Weapons it was 8 rounds

Another source claiming 8
http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg67-e.htm

another source claiming 8
http://www.thesouthafricanwargamer.co.za/weapons.htm

According to http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/revie...ger_review.htm :

12 rounds with a standard magazine
50 rounds with a drum magazine
