some questions
 
Hi,

Version free 4.5

1) If i use an ammunition dump and ammo carriers, and place the player under AI control, they have any use ?
Example - reload an rocket launcher that have only 4 reloads.....

2) Is possible to change the end-date of the long campaign to make it end at 1946+ (to use all the what if units)?

3) In the change option, i see the specs of the new unit but how can i see the specs of the unit in use ?

4) auto deploy place the barges in land if you 'buy' then to cross a river .... is that a bug, or never intended to be used by the AI ?

1) The AI knows nothing about ammo units. Those are a human-use only item.

2) No. It is the WW2 long campaign.

3) Probably using the space bar (unit info) during the game. You may have been looking it up on the encyclopaedia - which shows the default OOB template data only.

4) Why would you buy barges in a river crossing?. Barge carriers contain a barge, and can move to the riverside - and the AI knows what to do with those.

"Plain" barges will simply be dumped somewhere by the AI in a river crossing assault - it has no idea what to do with them (unless perhaps manually placed in a lake/river hex by a scenario designer, or deploying for a beach assault - where they are bought by the AI algorithms in any case).

Thanks for the fast answer.
1) Pity.... that do magic to AI if possible :D
2) Right.
3) I'm referring to see both units in the change window, after a battle.... You see the data of the one on the left (to replace) but not of the one on the right (to be replaced).
4) My error - I'm referring to LST(s)/ Landing Barge / Landunglastkahn - unit 247 of the German oob. They can load tanks (and the AI do it), but the auto deploy place then on land......

re (4) - as stated, they will only be auto-deployed in a beach assault.

In a river crossing assault, the AI only expects to be given barge carriers. Anything else will be treated as a normal unit for deployment - including plain barges. It expects to drive the barge carriers to the river and deploy their carried barges into the water.

The AI may operate a landing craft properly if a scenario designer manually places it in the river for it.
