Genesis device
Another Thanks to everyone who solved my little problem. I was thinking of a device that owuld have greater implications than a normal planetary bomb/generator. With the advent of drones a smaller bomb that woudl fit on a drone and is heavily armored would be one example of a 'genesis device' but hte true trek idea i had would be a weapon capable of creating or destroyign a planet and then capable of increasing the value of any created planet by X%. Think about that?

I'm thinking about a Planetary Subverter Drone... how about that? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Bit drastic to do that and I suppose you could deal with such self-genocide by making the morale of your empire go straight to rioting if you tried this. The best use of the genesis device I think would be as the top slot of any terraforming tech (sorry, only on my second game of SEIV and havn't discovered the terraforming tech yet) and which you could use to turn non-colonisable planets into colonisable planets. Re: Genesis device
Totally a great idea. You coudl use it on any planet, woudl work like bomb on enemy but would be nice for your place. Would convert the planet to your home type (too bad if you want something else). And if you're going to make hard code changes (would need to for the above, so might as well contine) you could make it only do the X% ^ when it creates a planet.
Also you coudl just have a miniturized planet blower upper to fit on a drone without the other features for a lower price and use that as a special missle. I think the idea of spy teams should be gone over and you shoudl be forced to either plunk down $$$ to hire agents in foriegn lands or send your own inby boat. Could also do other operations iwth these teams like target special facilites or entire fleets as opposed to the more random intel ops. This would add a larger spymaster idea to the whole thing. I think the intel is good (now that its fixed) but it coudl be improved on some. However a really smart and challenging AI shoudl come first. the AI is not as hard as it was when i first picked up the game and is duped too easily. It shoudl NEVER trade colonization tech for anything else except other colony tech and only if it has atl east a 25-50% score advantage on the other player. OT, sorry. Good work. |
