Modding Question: Adding pretenders to a nations list

How do you add pretenders to the list a nation has to select from?

You need to edit the pretender and add "#restrictedgod 95" or whatever nation you want to restrict the god to. There are lists of unit numbers in several places on the forums or you can select units in game by holding Shift and I dominions then then displays some information including their unit numbers.

This is what editing the Freak Lord would look like.

#selectmonster 246
#restrictedgod 95
#end

Answers to small questions like this can also be found in the modding.pdf in the docs folder of Dominions 3.

Yep I tried this method. However, I'm creating a new nation and if you add that line, it removed the pretender from some other nations list. I'm making an altered version of man and was trying to add their pretenders onto the new nation. As I did it they were removed from those available to the normal version on Man. Any way around this problem short of creating new units with copied stats of the old units?

Edit: actually just did this and it wasn't to hard. Problem solved.

You could also just add #restrictedgod for the standard nations as well as your new nation.

Yep, but it's a lot harder to go through and try to find all the nations than currently use the pretender than it is to just create a duplicate unit. Only downside is that it uses up a unit slot.

The only way to add pretender gods to new nations without removing them from existing ones is to create a new unit, #copystats and #restrictedgod. Only one #restrictedgod (I think, in any case it's low) per god works.

Cataclysm has the workaround to this by just copying a ton of gods and not adding #restrictedgod. That makes them available to every single nation.

Elmokki is right, the mod command accepts only one nation. This can be very frustrating. You need to copy the gods.
