A strangely basic question ...

OK, when I play a Battle, I prefer to play from the left side of the map.

It used to be the case that this would be the default for me as Player 1 ... but no longer is. Is there an adjustment I can make to ensure that I'll start on the left as the human Player 1?

I assume you mean playing as the allies but what side actually?, you dont say,so you need to be more specific.

Anyway,, the side of map is historicaly set for the place,date and force selected for that period.

Also, IIRC correctly,you can swap sides in a single battle, but as i've never bother with it,you'll have to investigate that option:)

After a bit of testing, it does seem to be based on the geographic location of the countries. Kind of a shame ... means I'm always on the right against China.

Hmm, given that China is a one party communist dictatorship, People's Republic of China, I'd kinda expect you to 'on the right'. :)

Although, I'd think if you were fighting as an air dropped unit you might be fighting from any/all directions.
