Has anyone besides me been following this?

If so, what do you think? Personally, I find that there isn't a whole lot of direction to the plot so far. It just kind of wanders from topic to topic, without dwelling on any one topic long enough to develop into an interesting story arc. In doing so, they have also left a lot of loose threads lying around (for instance, whatever happened with the cardassian humanitarian aid situation? They just kind of dropped the subject. Not even the cardassian crewman mentions it, and he was the main character in that episode.)

However, there are a few surprising character developments in progress. The relationship between the captain and doctor, for example. At first I thought that they were just going to use it for the compulsary romantic interest Hollywood demands of any creative work; yet they did not, they have treated it with a surprisingly mature grasp of estranged relationships.

On the other hand, there have been some disappointments in this area, as well. Quinlan, for instance. So far, she appears to have almost no development whatsoever, and what is there is very naively done. The alien Y'lan's development was easily predictable, no surprises there; and the developing relationship between the cardassian and the first officer is far to "convenient", in my opinion.

Well, that's just my overpriced $0.02, anyway. Any other opinions floating around out there?

Yea, they threw me for a loop a while back. During that first hiatis, I didn't check on them for a month or so, and when I came back, they had changed the url. The old one still worked, but it wasn't updated, only the new url was updated.

Hi. As the Executive Producer (i.e. man in charge) of Renaissance, I'm dropping by to reply to your comment above.

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of Renaissance. We value our readers quite a bit, and do what we can to ensure that you guys are happy. I invite you to discuss Renaissance on the public bulliten board. There are usually a few conversations about each episode and the arc as a whole going on there at http://pub10.ezboard.com/ftrektechfrm17.

With regard to the arcs, we do have arcs planned. However, we've used the first bunch of episodes of the first season to explore and create expository material about the Renaissance universe. Suffice it to say that all the "standalone" episodes that seem to be a part of the arc will be followed up on.

Dojar is a fairly private person, and as you've noticed, he barely discusses anything with anyone. It's not a surprise that he hasn't followed up on the story with his friends (or lack thereof) considering all that's happened to him (including his getting trapped and almost lost quite a few times).

With regard to the Cross/Elris relationship, we thought long and hard before including it in the Renaissance story. We agreed only to do it if we dealt with the story in a mature and appropriate fashion, and so we've taken many steps to ensure we've done it.

Quinlan was a toughie because of development we've planned for her later this season. When the episode is released, you'll see what I mean, but I assure you, we're not ignoring her or leaving her alone.

Y'lan's development is predictable, but there are things about him you do not yet know that will make his character far more interesting. Talora and Dojar's relationship is "convenient," but there are "convenient" things that happen in real life as well as fiction.

Please continue to read our episodes. I promise we are leading somewhere.

I am aware of this. I was just bored Last night, and I thought I would ask this particular group of people (as opposed to those on the chat board you mentioned) what they thought of it. I was also curious (as the subject states) if I was the only one on this board that followed your series)

Oh, now don't get me wrong. I wasn't being negative about any of this. I was just stating my opinions about what I'd seen so far. I am not willing to offer critisisms per say. Why? Because I am not willing to put any of my creative writing up before the general public for critisism!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif And unless you are willing to do that, you have no right to critisize other's work. Well, IMHO, anyway.

Overall, I'm not complaining. I don't think that the series is living up to it's full potential; there are a few things that I think could have and should have been developed a little more thoroughly. But that is just my opinion. I don't know your plans for future episodes; you could very well have already been planning do develop them before I said anything!

On the other hand, I like the series very much; there is a lot of potential in the setting that is being realized. Y'lan may have been predictable, but it is a good story arc (or the beginning of one) nonetheless. And I am still impressed with how the Cross/Elris relationship is being handled. Major cudos for that one!!!

Oh, have no fear, I shall!

Re: Has anyone besides me been following this?

So, can I assume then that Atrocities and I are the only two that are following this (with Geo a possible)????? Man, you guys/gals/aliens are missing out here. I'm not a big trek fan, but this is shaping up to be a pretty good read. You probably should check it out now, while they are on haitus. That will give you some time to catch up on all the back episodes.

By the way, they have a new website now. Pretty cool.

Never heard of this before today, thanks for pointing it out. I guess I have some reading to do.
