trench in open vs trench in rough.
 
does the base terrain affect foxhole or slit trench? for example is a trench built on a road less effective that a trench build in rought area?

you should only get the trench defensive modifer,it superceeds any other terrian.

foxholes could be different IDK::D

The one set up in the rough will probably be the better cover.

roads are not terrain - they are an overlay to the base terrain, so whatever is under it is what will count.
