Empty province mystery
 

I decided to try something a bit different--LA Ermor but a win by dominion *ONLY*--I have recaptured provinces taken with remote attack spells but that is it.

I've been pushing my hellish dominion across the world and I have Wrath of God, Burden of Time and Utterdark up. I think the world is at the unit cap besides--I'm getting no freespawn at all in some areas despite a 10 dominion.

What's really strange is that enemy provinces keep going neutral. One turn they're enemy, the next they're unowned and completely empty. Even provinces with castles aren't immune although I haven't had eyeballs on one to see if it goes empty in one turn.

The area in question has been completely depopulated although there are still a few AI units wandering around.

What is going on?

random event that makes the province go neutral?

Utterdark causes random shade attacks on provinces. when it beats the provinces defenses it makes them go neutral with nothing in it.

That explains it. They had already been burned to nothing, without enough PD they would fall.
