Quick fear question
If a unit that is naturally Fear +0 wears a horror helmet, the unit becomes Fear +5, correct? Whereas if he didn't start with fear, the helmet just makes him Fear +0. Is that right?
And just so I understand how the fear works, if you are Fear +0, units in a 6 square area are going to take a morale check against 10 every turn. Whereas if you are Fear +5, units in an 11 square area are going to take a morale check against 11 each turn. Is that all correct? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Quick fear question
from what I know it is, but there is also an additional effect that reduces morale each turn. Don't know how that works.

@Snacktime
Where do you get that information from, please? Is it somewhere, or did you discover it empirically? |
Re: Quick fear question
Snacktime, there is a simple explanation for your first question. Every unit in the game has an inbuilt fear -5 level. But it will not do anything until you reach fear +0. This is why you get fear +0 automatically on units with death magic 5. Death magic adds +1 to fear per level.
Your second statement is probably correct to an extent but it is not the whole truth. Fear also lowers the morale of any enemy unit in the vicinity for an example. It does not stop at morale 0 either. I think I have seen a unit with morale -59 once. No one knows exactly how fear works though. Or not the exact math behind it anyway. It is just one of those things that is a mystery even to the competitive MP community. Its really powerful however. |
Re: Quick fear question
Thanks folks - my main concern is confirming that putting a Horror Helmet on a unit that is already Fear +0 is not worthless, i.e. the helmet increases them to Fear +5 rather than solely giving Fear to units that didn't have it otherwise.
JonBrave, the manual explains most of this, but as others suggest it doesn't seem to be right in some ways. |
