First post a few questions

Well I had alot more questions, but it took so long to get approved here...well I figured out alot on my through trial and error and reading on here. I am doing the long campaign, started out as the Germans (because who wouldnt) and I choose the very first one in the selection list.Well my first question, after I figured out arty pretty good, Ive been expanding my core with 10cm heavy artillery. Is this the best choice for off the board arty? It has the best He which is 80. Next question how come when I chose to expand my core, i cant find aircraft any where? Are aircraft not allowed in the core? And when i am finally able to get Tigers and Panthers, hoe will I find them, will they show up in Cs groups, or will they have their own listing? This game rocks and blows Panzer General out of the water!!! I just wish there was a way to show units that have moves left and the game would announce new upgrades such as the aformentioned tigers.

Re: First post a few questions

Firstly: if you have several questions, could you next time please split them into individual paragraphs and number them?

Then to answer your questions:

1.) Artillery: depends on what you want to do with it. Those 10 cm guns have a good range, which is handy for counter-battery fire (or for avoiding enemy counter-battery fire). Against on-map targets it is decent, but if you want something that packs more punch you might want to try 15 cm battery instead (higher HE kill, HE penetration and warhead ratings).

2.) Aircraft: these are not allowed in the core. Air forces tend to be organisationally quite distant from the typical ground forces you see in Steel Panthers. It is already a stretch enough that you can have corps level artillery assets in the core.

3.) New units: there is no separate entry for the "new this month" units. So you will need to scan the lists yourself to find what is new. Familiarise yourself with the in-game encyclopedia if you want to know when particular units become available.

4.) Moves left: actually this is displayed in the units menu - there you can see a table of all of your units and a number displaying how many moves each one has left.

Re: First post a few questions

On point(3)since you say you like playing as the germans and they were notorious for tweaking the panzers alot.

I'd buy the best available for the time you start, train them and resist upgrading when a newer version of the same thing comes up,as you will lose some experience.

Save upgrading for say a PZIII to a PZIVG which has the longer barrel for example:)

Thanks for the info guys. The arty answer is helpful I will have to buy some 15 cms. I am well familiar on how much the Germans tweeked things. I had done those upgrades on a few units but was waiting for the good stuff. I recently upgraded most of my Panzer IV's to the captured T34/74 I really like this tank it will due till the Tigers come. I cant wait for the 88's with a tank under them! I believe I am currently Germany vs Russia in 2/1942 I will have to wait till August.
