Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
Hi All!
I'm new to dominions, and just purchased the game. I'm wondering if there are any recommended mods to improve the single-player AI/experience? I know this game shines in MP, but I have to start somewhere =) Thanks! John |
Re: Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
SingleAge lets you play with ALL of the nations from all 3 ages at the same time. And you can go beyond that to 95 nations in one game if you want to edit it abit
Mytheology and Immortal Pretenders and Nova Deus give more pretenders to choose from Worthy and Epic give more and more powerful heroes showing up CPCS gives morespells the Magic Sites mod gives more sites with some interesting bonuses Elemental End Game and End Game mod give more bigger monsters as summons And then maybe fill the nation slots from 73-95 with modded nations. AND THEN RUN THRU THE CHAOS PROGRAM MUHAhahahahahaa! Or at least the SemiRandom program to scatter interesting provinces around the map If you turn the Independents down in a game then the AI gets stronger. And if you turn the Independent strength up then the AI wont swarm you so fast. There are maps that can help also. Of course, playing on maps much larger than MP games allows fun use of nations such as Caelum and Pangaea. Or modified maps such as NI (No Indepts) maps. You still fight independents, but the provs dont give you any to recruit in each province. This makes the AI play with stronger national units instead of lots of cheap independent recruits. Personally I prefer PI (Partial Indepts) maps which set it about 1 in 10 provs to still have recruits. That still gives the AI a boost but leaves some nice surprises for you to find also. There are also SemiRand maps with surprise provinces. And if you are really feeling crazy then a Chaos map which breaks all of the game rules. Many of the maps are available at www.Dom3Minions.com Here is a link to House Rules Against AI (an old thread on improving the AI) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=44783 And a link to a mod browser which is good for finding some new interesting opponents the Globu Mod Browser on LLamaServer http://www.llamaserver.net/globu/Dom...neralMods.html Gandalf Parker |

Personally, I think an amazing mod which gandalf left out is the unitgen mod.
It creates random nations - you can find one that meets your playing style. Absolutely AMAZING. |
Re: Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
Don`t play SP - the AI is absolutely horrible and plays TOTALLY different from real human. Playing against it will give you bad habits.

Re: Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
If you're new to the game its probably best to start with vanilla, there's already plenty of complex stuff to get to grips with and mods generally add even more content (they don't affect user interface or suchlike).
I wouldn't advise going into a multi player game without ever playing SP.. at least get the basics down. Don't be afraid to join a noob game once you've got some idea of how to play, the bar is not so high. |
Re: Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
i disagree with momfreak about starting playing with vanilla. if u plan to play MP sometime (i recommend) u will end up playing with CBM anyway, and the game with CBM is not harder to learn or less enjoyable in SP, so why not start playing with CBM immediately?

Re: Mods to Improve Single Player Experience?
Posts here and in other recent threads have spurred me back into the mood for abit of game support. So my post above has been touched up (badly) and added to the www.Dom3Minions.com web site under Solo Play (I removed the whining Scenario page). As many references as possible have been converted to links for the latest version. Also some new mods have been included.
And dont forget to visit the Gift Shop on the way out. If I can maintain some motivation I will also update the Utilities page for third-party programs. Gandalf Parker |
