Gold question SEIV PBEM to TCPIP

It was mentioned in one of the other Posts that a PBEM game can be converted to TCPIP game.

Can TCPIP games be converted to PBEM games??

Nope. That's something we asked for, but it apparently required too many code changes.

However, with the changes he did make it is very easy to start a game in TCP/IP mode, and then move it to PBW or standard PBEM once everybody cannot be Online. And if the game was originally started in TCP/IP mode, you should be able to pick it back up in TCP/IP mode later on if you reach a point where everybody can meet Online again.

Geoschmo, you just said that you can't do it, and then you said that you can do it. Which is it? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Well, I thought I answered Tesco's question, but if I have confused anybody, I am sorry. Let me try again...

If the game is originally started in TCP/IP mode it can be moved to PBW/PBEM, and back again.

But,

If the game was not started in TCP/IP mode initially, it cannot be converted to TCP/IP mode.

Does that make more sense? If it doesn't, you may have to take my word for it for now. Once you have the Gold Version and see how TCP/IP games are setup and saved I think it will make more sense. It's kind of like trying to describe the elephant from seeing the tail. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

That makes sense. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif In your first post, you weren't specific about which way was impossible and which one could be done. You said that it was requested and it wouldn't work, and then you said that it would work, without mentioning which transfer mode was the one that wouldn't work. Hope that makes sense. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
