UM question
 

i have been waging war against the ai for about three weeks now, but now my saved game is corrupted somehow. the main culprit seems to be that there is a missing or corrupted race file for the addasians, there is no picture for the addasian DN. i get this message-"cannot load \pictures\racegeneric\generic_portrait_drdnght.bmp " i have checked the folders, and the addasian files all seem to be in the right place. i am usiing mod launcher 1.17(i think), se4 ver 1.41.
my saved game crashes when i click the design button. this is the only race so far i have seen using DN's. any help will be greatly appreciated.

i have had a similar problem just starting a game. Make sure the file for teh addasian is named the same as the files it contains (starting part of the name like (SW_EMP1_race_portrait.bmp would have a file named SW_EMP1) that probably isn't it but i can' think of anything else. check to see if the file in question is in there (the generic place) or maybe just reinstall hte UM and make sure to back-up your save game as it might be overwritten in the reinstall of the UM.

i didnt try the re-install. i went and got the new um mod from spacempires.org. loaded the problem game, the addasian DN's where fixed but i had cargo ships being carried by my carriers. the cargo ship pic replaced the fighter unit pic. needless to say that game is screwed up. the new seems to be fine except no sounds!

Try starting a new game, see if that corrects the problem.

so its just a graphics issue then?? it is safe to go back and play that particular game?? my carriers do have the figters.
