Reorder Units...

How may I reorder units once a scenario is built? I have purchased units, built a scenario and now would like to place certain units ahead of others, in particular, I want to list the core units ahead of support units, etc. Please see the file below.

I have as Unit B, a Dist Hospital, Unit C, a UAC, and Unit D, a Medic. These units I want to list below the unit CO B-2 Abn without deleting unita and doing a re-purchase. Please advise.

Thanks.

Re: Reorder Units...

It's a simple case of which one is bought first. Deletion of formations in the middle of the list messes that up as it causes gaps in the unit list (an array). As does cross-attaching subordinates. In a scenario - you may well have to take into consideration the second side's deletions and reassignments as well. If you delete a platoon, then buy a company - the HQ can take that "higher" gap, and so throw the original numbering off as well.

The formation ID string (AAA999) is generated "on the fly" from the unit's position - it is not part of the unit's or formation's individual data.

So if you want a particular guaranteed formation order in a scenario it is really a case of deleting everything and then re-purchasing in the exact order you want, for side 1 and then side 2 as well.

cheers

It's also useful when scenario building to remember that the AI's units will move/fire in the order they're purchased in.

So if you buy a tank company then buy a recon platoon the tanks will move/fire before the recon does.

I never noticed that. Then again I've only been playing the game for one decade.

Neat detail:
This also controls how units stack in a hex :)
