Acer C7 Chromebook

I'll start off by saying I am not the brightest when it comes to computers. I hope I can ask this without being raked over the coals. I am interested in buying an Acer C7 Chromebook becuase my laptop is starting to show signs of old age. The only games I play on my current computer is WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2. Would somebody be able to tell me if I could play these two games on the Acer C7? If I am reading the specs right the Acer C7 does not use Windows Vista/7/8. Thank you in advance for any help.

Without Windows you will not be able to play WinSPMBT and WinSPWW2.

Thanks man. I kinda had that feeling but thought I should ask before I forked out 200 bucks.

If it is some sort of Unix, then install the Wine windows emulator or something similar - and then see the sticky thread on running the game under Wine at the top of the forum.

cheers

I read that on Chromebook you can install Wine on developer mode or something similar. Not an easy task for a novice.

Edit: to play WinSPMBT on a Chromebook you must install a normal Linux distro in developer mode ( format Chrome OS or create a partition, i don't know exactly) and then install Wine.

After, you must run WinSPMBT installer like a normal Windows game.

Whew! I read all of this and only heard clicks and whistles. Now I know how my grandfather felt when I tried to tell him how to set the time on his VCR. This is what I think you said...Its easy! You just need to do the flim flaggle with the ring ring tom tom and then jizzlebit the hokey pokey in the flim flam. I honestly am thankful for the replies. I found a nice laptop on Amazon that has Windows 7 on it. I think I'll get the Chromebook for my son. He's 12 and a lot smarter than me.

If your used to windows in all its varients then I would stick to something that uses them as there is not a lot of diffrence. Linux is quite diffrent so unless you are prepared to learn how it works in your case it might be best to stick to what you know,
Suppose its a case of price vs sitting down for a while to learn it.

OK - I actually looked at chrome book thingies on Amazon. probably should have doe that, but thought they were a Unix based netbook.

It is not even Unix - it seems to be a special Google specific proprietary operating system that is basically just a browser, and the only local storage is a flash drive with 16GB.

The only programmes it runs is Googles own browser and via that, their own Office apps and cloud storage. A bit pricey at 250 quid, unless that very limited niche fits your needs exactly, IMHO and you did not already have a tablet or laptop.

There is of course no chance that our game will run on the thing.

Mobhack- Thanks for looking into that for me. The one thing I check before I buy a new computer is if it can run WinSPMBT and WW2. I saw the ad for the C7 and it looked new and interesting. I currently use Windows 7 and have had very little difficulty with it. Thanks again for everyones help.
