On-Map mortars firing CM

1 Attachment(s)
When an on-map mortar or howitzer squad carries a secondary close defence weapon with a value in the AP Pen field (eg '222') plus AP ammo for it - the FO can plot cluster munitions in the bombardment screen and fire them!

To illustrate this event, I added a bazooka to OOB12, Unit 082, Slot4; the saved test game is attached. Just run it and watch the fireworks! Although such units may not be in default OOBs, they could be common in custom builds.

Thanks

And that is why artillery units should only have AP ammo issued if you are equipping them with cluster munitions.

On-map arty units have HEAT issued for the slot 1 weapon if they have a secondary anti-tank function. APCR also works for that purpose (see the 25 pounder as heavy ATG in WW2 UK OOBs). Otherwise, Arty units should only ever have HE ammo issued for self defence weaponry held in slots 2-4.

Nothing new, and already a known factor in OOB design since the issue of SP2 back in 1996.

Though if it's not already noted in the Mobhack help file somewhere, it should be so that it does not get "rediscovered" every 3 years or so.

cheers

Duly noted .. I can appreciate that with old code it's not quite as simple as jamming in an "AND value(APPen) NOT EQUAL '222' " condition here and there as a partial fix.

Nevertheless, my mortarmen can rest assured that they will continue to be provided the best close defence AT weapons that money can buy, confident in the knowledge that no-one will ever order them to fire that dusty old box of defective ammo that's been sitting in the back of the truck forever! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Love the game, by the way. Keep up the good work!
