Sort request for the CD/$DL version
I have finally bought the $DL version of winSPWW2 lured by the higher resolutions, which have not, yet anyway, quite worked out as I was expecting-more experimenting scheduled.
However, somewhat to my surprise, I have found the sorting ability in the Encyclopedia to be very useful and interesting. My request would be that when one sorts by Unit Type or Unit Class, could the result be displayed in date order? That would be really useful. |

Thanks Andy for the response.
Unfortunately, I must have expressed myself poorly as I was already aware that the Date Avail button would sort by date, sort all units by date. What I was hoping would be possible would be a sort by Unit Class AND Date Available, so you would be a result of say all medium tanks in date available order. As far as I have been able to determine you can have Unit Type in random date order or Date Available in random unit class. Actually, it isn't entirely random as you get some units in something close to date order, but then something else pop up that isn't - sort of odd. Don't just look at the first page, go look at the Infantry Gruppen or FJ Gruppen. Ofc, this might be something difficult to change, just requesting it if it would be an easy tweak. |

What you have is what you get - ie one sort type, not sub-sorts within sorts.

ok, just wanted to see if it was possible, if you don't ask you never find out.

Re: Sort request for the CD/$DL version
Your best bet would be to use the Mobhack utility to dump the encyclopaedia contents as .csv files and import them into a spreadsheet program (I use both MS Excel and OpenOffice Calc). Once in spreadsheet form you can apply all sorts of filters and sorting.
Keep in mind that you may need to do a little data scrubbing. For example, when I dumped the Soviet OOB the units sheet needed a little massage because one of the units had a comma in the name ('M10, 3 in' Lend-Lease Wolverine) which threw off the spreadsheet .csv import, adding an extra field for that record. |
