Strf 90120 / CV90120
I've looked for this vehicle in the Swedish OOB, but haven't found it.
http://www.army-guide.com/eng/product262.html The CV90120 is a light tank with the firepower of a MBT, armed with a Swiss 120 mm CTG 120/L50 RUAG. From what I've read it can't carry any infantry, the way the CV9040 can, but I can imagine that this light tank in combination with the regular CV9040 can pack a punch on the modern battlefield. Am I just blind and have missed this vehicle in the Swedish OOB totally or has this version of the CV90 simply been overlooked when developing the game? If it isn't there, can someone make a couple of in-game graphics of it? Cheers, Taskforce |

Re: Strf 90120 / CV90120
Found further information that confirmed your facts - as of 2010 no order has so far been placed on the CV90120.
http://www.military-today.com/tanks/cv90120t.htm However, I did some more reading in the first link, and it seems that the CV90120 has the option between carrying 4 combat ready troops or more ammo for its main gun. And since I like to create a lot of "What if" vehicles, I've already added the CV90120 as a "What if" vehicle in a special light tank 03 formation, since the vehicle was fully developed in 2001, after extensive trials since 1998. Just a couple of "What if" questions: What do you recon, do 4 combat ready troops equal about 20 more rounds of 120 mm ammo regarding the storage area needed or should I reduce or increase this number? And the performance of a theoretical 120 mm/L50 WG98 gun should be something between the 120 mm/L44 WG01 and the 120/L55 WG06 regarding accuracy and SABOT penetration? I'd assume that the armour pretty much stays the same as with the standerd CV9040. All I need now are some icons... Cheers, Taskforce |
Re: Strf 90120 / CV90120
Sidenote:
- In the early 90s I participted in a sort of tour of new weapon systems for the Swedish army at what was then MekB19. The officer holding the presentation on the CV90 claimed that the 120mm gun version was developed with an eye to the French market because the French army liked to slap big caliber weapons on their vehicles, but I have never seen that confirmed anywhere else. |
